This share calculator is built for every Nepali investor who’s ever been surprised by how much less they received after selling shares — or how much more they had to pay when buying. Because on NEPSE, the screen price and the actual transaction cost are never the same number.
Nobody explains this when you start. The price you see is just the base. On top of that comes broker commission on a tiered slab, SEBON regulatory fee, DP charge for the DEMAT transfer, and capital gain tax when you’ve made a profit. Miss even one of these and your whole profit calculation is off.
Use this Nepal share calculator before every trade — it handles all four charges at once and gives you the real number in under a minute.
What Gets Deducted on Every NEPSE Transaction
Four charges apply every time you buy or sell on Nepal Stock Exchange.
Broker commission works on a tiered slab system. Up to Rs 50,000, the rate is 0.36%. It steps down as the amount rises — 0.33% up to Rs 5 lakh, 0.31% up to Rs 20 lakh, 0.27% up to Rs 1 crore, 0.24% above that. Each rate applies only to the portion that falls within its range, not the full amount. Our NEPSE share calculator applies this correctly — flat-rate mental math doesn’t.
SEBON charges 0.015% on every transaction, buy or sell, no exceptions.
DP charge is Rs 25 flat. Goes to CDSC for processing the DEMAT share transfer. Same every time regardless of trade size.
Capital gain tax only hits when you sell at a profit. Individual investors pay 7.5% on gains from shares held 365 days or less, and 5% if held longer. Institutional investors pay 10%. Sell at a loss — no CGT.
How to Use the Share Calculator — Exact Steps
Follow the fields in the order they appear on the calculator.
Quantity Presets — The top row has quick buttons: 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000 shares. Tap one to auto-fill the quantity. Or type your number directly in the Share Quantity field below it.
Transaction Type — Select Buy to see your total payable. Select Sell to see your actual receivable after all deductions.
Share Quantity — Enter shares manually here if you skipped the preset buttons.
Buy Price — The price per share. For buy calculations this is what you’re paying. For sell calculations this is your original purchase price.
Is WACC Price — If you’ve bought the same stock in multiple batches at different times, your broker shows a WACC (Weighted Average Cost of Capital) in TMS — a blended average across all purchase lots. If the buy price you entered is your WACC, switch this to Yes. The share calculator will then compute CGT on the correct profit. Bought only once? Leave it on No.
Sell Price — Appears when Sell is selected. Enter the price you’re selling at. The difference between this and your buy/WACC price determines your profit and whether CGT applies.
Investor Type — Individual for retail investors, Institutional for companies or organizations.
Capital Gain Tax — Pick the rate for your situation: 5% for individuals holding over 365 days, 7.5% for 365 days or less, 10% for institutional investors, 15% for unlisted shares institutional.
Broker Commission — NEPSE Tiered works for most people. Switch to Custom % only if your broker has confirmed a different rate with you.
SEBON Fee and DP Charge — Pre-filled at 0.015% and Rs 25. These are the standard regulated values. Leave them unless your broker tells you otherwise.
Click Calculate.
For a buy transaction the share calculator shows Total Payable and Cost Per Share. For sell it shows Total Receivable and Receivable Per Share. The detailed charge breakdown table below lists each fee separately — brokerage, SEBON, DP, and CGT — so you see exactly where every rupee went.

Buy by Total Amount Calculator
Below the main share calculator there’s a second tool — Share Buy Calculator by Total Amount. Instead of entering quantity first, you enter the total money you have available and the share price. It tells you how many whole shares you can buy after charges and how much is left over.
Handy when you want to fully use a fixed budget without overshooting. Saves you from rejected orders.
Quick Example
Buy 100 shares at Rs 500 — base value Rs 50,000. After broker commission, SEBON fee and DP charge, total payable is Rs 50,212.50. Real cost per share: Rs 502.13.
Sell at Rs 650 after 8 months — after all charges and 7.5% CGT on the profit, total receivable is around Rs 63,641. Net gain: Rs 13,429. Not the Rs 15,000 the basic subtraction suggests.
That’s a Rs 1,571 difference on a fairly modest trade. Run the share calculator first and you’ll always know the real number before committing.
